How fast does a year go by?
    The annual pilgrimage begins
This year my friend and I are going down Sunday, so we can see the first matches from 10am instead of missing them due to travelling.
The interest of last year Jackson Page is on the 10 shift so will try to get to over see that one; a few other Welsh players are in stage as well (Dominic Dale, Darren Morgan, Rhydian Richards).
Last year we found a few good places to eat but if any locals know of anything they wish to share, more the merrier

http://www.thepottedpig.com/ Can be a little bit hit and miss for me but some friends consider it the best place to eat in Cardiff.
https://asador44.co.uk/ Spanish steakhouse probably the best beef in Cardiff, not cheap but they do good value lunch offers
Bar44 same company as Asador but Bar44 does tapas
The Real Italian Pizza Company pretty good does what it says on the tin
https://www.madeirarestaurante.co.uk/ Portuguese, I haven't been for ages but never heard a bad word said about it, and it is right behind the motorpoint
Cafe Cita do some nice Italian dishes and pizza
    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cafe-...48498355190243
Nata & Co Portuguese bakery opposite the castle by Revolution
Garlands Castle Arcade is good for breakfast or lunch
New York Dehli I would say a must at least once
    https://www.facebook.com/New-York-De...9905010054214/
Fresh baguette is great for a sandwhich or bagette

Wally's deli is good to grab some nice bits and has a cafe upstairs that lots of people don't seem to know about even though they shop in the deli.
If you like coffee The Plan in Morgan arcade, Little Man Coffee on the opposite corner to the job centre, behind the Admiral building next door
to the Motorpoint and Uncomon Ground in Royal arcade are all decent.
If you haven't tried them get some Welsh cakes from the indoor market.

It depends on what you are after really, I can't think of a decent curry house in the city center but there are some a short trip out of town.

          2018 Welsh Open

well done DD with a relatively easy match against Chris Totten who never settled.

question - anyone recall a right-handed player who played the rest left-handed?
seen a few left-handed play he rest right but don't recall anyone the other water round
watching Rhydian Richards, playing well against Darren Morgan, and he does this

BTW, for anyone who wasn't aware? Play begins on BBC red channel 601 this afternoon at 1.00pm.
            Highest break to date? 1

Am beginning to understand why ROS is so disrespectful to fellow pros on the tour...
Chen Zhe simply hasn't got all the shots in his locker to compete.
Begs to wonder how some of these guys even get backing?

Ryan Day "playing" with a brand new cue (inc tip) ie picked it up 10 mins before the match started.

Mark Williams said: "I wouldn't be surprised if he swaps to the old one half way through"

Yep had a new tip put on as soon as it arrived.
Cue is again Ton Praram via Stu Green.

I thought the point about the tip was that it isn't a knocked in one...

Ton in 2nd Frame to go 1-1, but pants from distance.

It's from Thailand, any idea who made it?

I'm not sure quality is down. More a case of the top pro's having to play a wider field because they are in at final 128 rather than 32. I doubt Chen Zhe is much different than a 100+ ranked play from any generation.

We never saw lower ranked players on TV so they would never had been introduced to TV conditions. That's said IMO a pro of any ranking should have all shots in his locker, which Zhe clearly has not. That's all am referring too :snooker:

Ryan Day really hasn't been playing too well since his cue got snapped, he appears to be using another Praram limited edition cue with a black badge. Just wonder what cuemaker managed to butcher his original?

Yea lol I know club players with better cue actions, really strange to see a pro with that kind of technique....
