    Default Mental Blocks

Sometimes the coach needs to be coached so any advice at all would be greatly appreciated.

My ability seems to differ in matches depending on who I am playing.

For example, if im playing a player whose seen me get the hump in myself by maybe banging the table ill probably bang the table next time we play. If my opponent hasnt I wont.

If I play an opponent who I remember I got a break of say 45 last time theres a really good chance Ill get another one next time. However, if I remember that in previous meetings I couldnt pot a thing my game will seemingly go to pot! If its against a player I potted well from distance against last time long potting will be no problem for me but against a player I remember missing long pots anything over 6 foot ill miss.

It is now getting to the point where its waring me down. Id really appreciate any "out of the box ideas" too something maybe you wouldnt think of normally ie concentration which I know anyway.

    Thanks guys and girls!

    Regards

    Roy

I'd say the best thing would be to concentrate on the balls and not on your opponent; it's the balls you're playing and not the player!! Every frame is different, it's the balls which count and if you play the balls as they lie in each frame I think you've got a much better chance of playing as you can and should. The opponent is just a person you should try and keep in their chair as long as possible! At the end of the day, if you are at the table and you are playing the balls then he is redundant.

Oh, don't hit the table, it hurts (!!) and you could damage your hand! How can you play then?

I think a lot of players have the same problem. Not making it personal is easier said than done. If Ali Carter had been playing as well against Ronnie as he did against Ebdon he'd have won. Ronnie knew Carter he's a master over Carter and it was obvious by the way he played. There is a fair bit of psychology involved

I know Mr O but unless I play well against someone I always seem to struggle against them until I do?
