Default World Snooker series, what a joke !!

The world snooker series is another badly judged, ill thought out and more than likely damaging to snooker as a whole.
How on earth can watching lesser lights being smashed by top 16 players be a spectacle worth watching, i can understand why Higgins and co are promoting it as with only 6 tournaments on the main tour its a nice little earner for them.
As with most sports that try to run 2 bodies, both badly run, by people who either do not understand snooker or who have no idea of running and promoting from a business aspect.
With little leadership and guidance on both parties "WSS & WSA" would do well to sit together and try to get the game back where it should be, perhaps give Barry Hearn a ring !!!!

I truly believe if Barry Hearn was in charge of the WSA, snooker would be drawing big crowds and have some big sponsors.

GAD63 -I disagree. Were you at the event in Prague? Have you been to any World Series tournaments? Perhaps you have, perhaps you haven't. Ok, so the pros all beat the Czech player pretty easily but that was not the purpose -the purpose was to take a professional snooker tournament to Prague -and all the other countries it goes to and provide snooker for the audience both there and the TV audience.

I think what you are suggesting is:
-organise the perfect tournament, in the perfect location, with the perfect number of people in the audience, with the perfect amount of prize money, with 8 equally perfect players. How many businesses achieve all those "perfects" when they are new? I'd say not many. Come one give it a chance. I am a business man (in electronics coincidentally), clearly you aren't -let's treat it fairly. Negetive criticism can only do damage.

i must say i think this is a great idea having world series tournamets.
a lot of people are complaining that snooker is dying.

having these tournamets in different parts of the world can only be a positive move.iin the end the more exposure snooker gets worldwide can only be positive.

I can't say the World Series is a great idea - it's an obvious idea, given only 6 ranking events on the main tour. It's a way of promoting a poorly managed sport. Ideally, there should be no need for this kind of series. But it's here to stay for at least a couple more years.

All I can say is - bring an event to Dublin! I'm aware there's an event in Killarney, County Kerry is far from the snooker capital of Ireland. I'm dismayed how there can be no main snooker event in Dublin anymore. Anytime players come for exhibitions, it's a sell-out. How can nobody take it by the scruff of the neck, and put an event on in places where there is demand, and where venues will be full, like here. It's like the sport has done it's best to kill Snooker in Ireland by letting the Masters slip away; since then, so many clubs have closed.

    hey mate.
i was really disappointed that the irish masters was done away with.
why was it done away with.

i thought it was a great tournament.

it should be brought back even make it a ranking event.

only six ranking events this season is terrible.

Wouldnt agree with the original poster the world series is a great event.

I attended a world series event last year and it was brilliant to see the time that John , Ken , Jimmy and Shaun gave to the fans that were there to sign autographs and talk to anyone that attended and have a few drinks in the bar aswell .

I believe this isnt the same with ranking events that besides watching the players play during the event there is no interaction with ordinary fans who go to see the games.

Fair play to all concerned and keep up the good work.

i think thats fantastic that the snooker stars interacted with the fans.
so many sportsmen and women in sport don't bother with the ordinary person and don't talk with them.
    or sign autographs.

good on the snooker players for doing this.
