Default level of progress for a 4-5month player

hi guys, i have been playing for 4-5months. averaging 2-3 days a week. 1 day = 2-3hour of play.
I been reading alot and watching alot of videos. So far my standard of play is around 1-2 red with a colour on good breaks. highest break is 16.
How am i doing, am i far behind? no personal cues.

If you put up a video, we can get a good understanding of where you are at. 16 is a good start and you should keep working at it. A lot of shots may be difficult and you aren't sure how the CB reacts quite yet, but over time, it will become familiar. Have a look at some writeups I have done also at http://snookerdelight.com/all-snooker-articles/

    Start with this one: http://snookerdelight.com/snooker-ar...er-life-cycle/

Also have a look at some good practice drills as applied to the junior players in China. I'm not sure if it's World Snooker certified but it's an excellent path to follow: http://www.snooker-sportclub.com/dong.html

You should try and spend at least half your time on the practice table and not in match play at this stage. The match play teaches you about your mind while practice teaches you about your mechanics and endurance.

Not one, I will put up a video next time, dont worry! I do get those super shots quite often. Last week, in match play, managed to cut a ball. 2-4 cm out of cushion. near green pocket to black pocket. judd trump style! I could visualize my shot, but execution fails me for much of the time!!

Hi Qwer, I just started playing again as well. Been playing 5 months after a 15-20 year absence from the game. My old best break as a teenager was 75. I try to practice now 2 or 3 times a week and got a 97 break in a line up and a 92 in a practice frame. I am really pleased i've given the game another go as i'm enjoying it so much now. Keep practicing and you will see the improvement. Good luck.
