level of progress for a 4-5month player

As nrage stated, it makes progress easier and faster when you are using the same cue. Each cue - even 2 identical looking cues - has it's own characteristics and personality so finding one that suits your hand will give you more confidence which will in turn help your game. If there is one particular O'min cue in the club that you really like, ask the club owner if you can buy it from them and then store it away in a locker or take it home with you and tend to it.

Where are you located? If you are in Great Britain, there are plenty of choices. Some of the senior members here are located in other parts of the world like Canada, USA, Germany, Europe, etc.

How much does snooker cost for you guys? at my site here, 10dollar per hour.
2 MacDonald's meal for 1 hour of snooker.
cue's kinda expensive.
the omin cue here is good. but the tip is not that nice......
