The answer is: STEVE DAVIS.
When the BBC came on cable in 1984, I was 13 years old.
The first match I watched was the Embassy World final Davis-White (18-16). I didn't miss that many matches since ;-)
When I was a teenager, I was a BMX-racer. I quit BMX in 1991, because I (finally) wanted to play snooker in competition. I started playing tournaments in the summer of 1992, and won my first "official" tournament in november 1992.
Some people compare Steve Davis to god, I think that's silly. Ok, he is fantastic, but he is not Steve Davis...
Watching Judd Trump at last years world championships
Jimmy white and Steve Davis
I'm a relative newcomer to the game, despite being over 30I started playing after coming to the UK and watching the 2007 World Championships. I was looking for work at the time so I had ample time to watch /a lot/ of snooker
Prior to that I had played a fair bit of pool, but never snooker .. it's just not that common to find a snooker table in New Zealand, except in the retired serviceman's association (RSA) clubs where all the old boys who fought in the war play it.
I played a fair amount of pool, began to watch a bit of snooker and wanted to play from then. I went, played and got the bug![]()

"You have to play the game like it means nothing, when in fact it means everything to you" Steve Davis.
Dartitis I am afraid
I went into a chemist and asked for a deodorant, the assistant said "ball, stick or aerosol", "No, I want it for under my arms!" was my reply.
My old man had an 8x4 table in the early 80's i was maybe 5 years old...and i've been a massive snooker fan as far back as i remember, i don't remember a time when i wasn't 'into' snooker...
