Default Trevor White Cues - Q&A & Impressions

I just got my Trevor White and it prompted me to write some responses to the FAQs I have seen as well as give my impression.
    Contact Details?
    EMAIL ADDRESS REMOVED

Edit: DO NOT Post peoples email addresses' without their permission.

He has a phone number but it is his to give out. (Might be good if you posted it again Trev…)
    Does he respond to emails?
Yes, he does but he is incredibly bad at it when he gets busy and he knows it.
He will do his best to respond but note that he is a one-man-show.
He will respond often and timely when it comes to hashing out the cue details, measurements, weight, splices look and accessories but that will die down once it is all sorted and he has what’s needed to build the cue. Time for talk is over and the work starts.
Note: Some may get distraught when the cue takes a while and they don’t get a response. I understand that. I am sure Trevor does. And I think he should probably capture those emails a bit better.
How long does a cue take?
How long is a piece of string? He does not give preferential treatment and creating the cue is less the issue than the fact that he is, as I said, a one-man-show.
Also, he won’t buy bad wood when the Chinese buy it all up, just to make a cue. If the right stuff is not there, he weathers the drought of good grain rather than create and send inferior cues.
6 months would generally be on the fast side. Assume 8-11 months to avoid being surprised. If all goes well, I am sure he does it in 6 months. Mine took 11 months. Trevor apologised for that but I don’t need apologies when the delays are a result of the above and get me a decent cue.
While I wanted the cue bad, I’d rather wait. My return Q: Why rush a master craftsman?
    YOU WILL GET YOUR CUE!
    Is it worth it?
I have received a beautiful custom-made, handmade cue exactly to specifications from the best cue maker out there. I now own the best cue I ever had and the best cue one could want. What do you think? Is that worth it?
Let me illustrate something: Imagine you are in a Snooker Shop and they hand you the best cue they have. It feels great in your hand and you know you have something special.
Now imagine that the best cue was designed by you and Trevor and to your exact specifications and then made specifically for you without ever seeing a shop or a rack.
That great feeling above gets multiplied something fierce.
Last note: Trevor has to stand by his product because there is no shop screening him so what you get MUST be good for him to succeed.
It’s not just good, it is a masterful piece of art.
Can you tell I am happy with it?
So don’t panic. It’s worth it.
    Thanks Trevor,
    Ax.

very good post agromann ... I personally don't own a Trevor White, I personally am happy with my £100 Welsh Pool Trading cue - it's not it's fault it misses sitters, it's mine ...

but you explain very well the benefits of buying a cue from a master craftsman ... I hope you enjoy your new cue ...

    Thanks dandya & sysneygeorge
My thinking exactly; I don't have any excuses for playing bad other than bad technique and lack of practice.
I'll add some pics below but I'll post some better ones when I use a proper camera.

Excuse me Agromann but the Chinese do not buy all the bad wood... Don't you think it's a bit of a generalized and where are you getting your facts from? Have you tried all the Chinese cue brands? Thought not.

I think he means the Chinese are buying up all the good wood which is why Trevor may have to wait to get his hands on good wood himself?!?

Thanks Dave! And YES, that's what I was referring to.
A lot of cues are now made in China and the cue makers are buying up all the good wood so that at times there is a draught and you have to wait to get good pieces back.
I have played with 2 Chinese cues BTW and they were quite good. (thanks for jumping to conclusions Ken...I wasn't having a go at Chinese cues or cue makers.
Having said that, I can safely say that I believe TWs cues to be a step above, whether Chinese or Southdisneymartian.
