diagnosed with cancer. Fortunately ( if there is such a thing ), it was cancer of the uterus. She had her hysterectomy
on July 4th and the op went well ( hadn't spread ). This was followed by 18 weeks of chemo, then 6 weeks of radio. It was recommended by the Oncologist as the tumor was so aggressive. Fast forward 12 months and by the bless of God, Mum's still with us ( complete with hair again now ) and Dad is recovering well from his triple by pass op that he had in early July.

Doesn't end there tho, in March this year I had a stroke. I was fortunate tho as I only spent one week in hospital ( that
was long enough! ). MY speech had totally gone and my spacial awareness on my left was totally shot. I still can't hold a fork properly ( more like a shovel ) but it's small things like that you just have to deal with.

I've already lost 21lbs ( I'm sat on my ass a lot at work and tbh, I'm lazy when I get home so I guess I had
had it coming ). The MRI scan showed I had mutiple strokes ( and this is where I was fortunate ) I didn't have a BIG one all in one go.

Sorry for the long winded post, but after my Mum was diagnosed last year it changed the way I looked at life.

I don't take life too seriously ( let alone myself ) and my thoughts are with your friend Hotpot.

On a brighter note, I had my first 100 break 'post stroke' ( last night ) and hit the ball sweet. All with my new TW 26mm butt ( coming down from 27 ). It's amazing how just 1mm can make such a diff. I should have gone for a 26 on the first build. You live and learn aye.

    Peace out.
Best of luck to you and your family Simon , keep pooting and smiling no matter what other folk think .

I agree life is too short, my father who had a stroke years ago, was half paralysed for a long time and had suffered multiple strokes since and eventually lost his battle passed away last month.

i think that we should all be great-full for our own health. and not get bogged down with things by taking them out of context, just for the sake of an argument

I agree that your first post was probably ignorance and not racist which you have applogised for since, that for me is the end of it, we should all try to respect each other and get on with life and try and live it to the full.

hope your health and your parents gets better mate.

I am SO SORRY Alabaddi, during my time on the acute stroke ward, 3 ppl died and that was over one week! I was the youngest one there ( 42 ), but the nurses told me they had younger than me over the years ( even children ). I wasn't in the main ward as I was fairly mobile. The guy in the bed next to me was 69. HE could not move his right arm at all. He was a table tennis player. Unfortunately, he also passed within weeks of me leaving hospital in March.

Life's too short. I was ignorant yes, but I've always been kinda silly and crazy too. That in itself is kinda hard to convey and put across on a web forum, but ppl who know me in RL know what I'm like. What a game aye.

    Keep practising Alabaddi. Later m8.

most definitely a racist slur and remark, which in an environment which values equality - would incur serious consequences, see below:

to side track, this is exactly why strict rules need to be in place - to ensure everyone gets the same treatment. this partisan show of support for your derogatory comments is not much help either (particularly after your very insincere apology) nor the apparent lack of intervention by administrators.

I would agree 100% that it is a derogatory comment, but, would not so readily agree that everyone else commenting in this thread has displayed particularly partisan support for it, or for the poster of that comment.

If Simon (Inoffthered) was truly unaware that such a tag was potentially so offensive, surely we can be generous enough to give him the benefit of the doubt and put it down to ignorance and lack of understanding. Further trangressions of a similar nature by the same person perhaps should result in more direct action, but I'd guess that's not likely to happen and that he will be far more careful in future.

Having said that, I would agree also that there probably should have been some intervention by a mod far sooner, and, things set straight. Certain posts do seem to be tolerated which should perhaps not be.
