Buying blind here, 18 to 20 oz leaning to 1 piece for the feel but which wood lends its self best to a 1 piece cue?

    both
it is not a question as to which is best suited for 1 piece BUT what characteristics are you looking for in a cue.

GENERALLY speaking, maple can be stiffer than ash, ash can be more flexible than maple - but not always.
But then each cue is different, even if exactly the same spec, one cue will have a slightly different "feel" when played than another.
It really does come down to your personal preference and how you "feel" the cue play to you.

If you have a chance, try out maple and ash cues of your friends or down the club or at a shop with a selection; and see what you like when actually playing a shot
Also, 18-20oz (in snooker cue terms) is a very wide range.

    Whereabouts are you located?
    Up the TSF! :snooker:

      Hi.
I deal with mostly one piece snooker cues.
      Maple and ash.
      Old cues in stock.
      Nice.
