I'm surprised most of you are hardly picking any qualifiers to win their matches. History says otherwise.

How so? History surely says that the vast majority of seeded players win their matches.

ok, who is going to spend the next couple of hours figuring out the percentages of the seeds win/losing their matches at WSC?
                      Up the TSF! :snooker:

Yep, but not to that degree. Most here picked 2-3 qualifiers to succeed that year and while this happened before it would be below average.
Over the course of the last 10 years that was the outcome of the first round:

                          2009: 14:2
                          2010: 12:4
                          2011: 11:5
                          2012: 8:8
                          2013: 10:6
                          2014: 11:5
                          2015: 13:3
                          2016: 9:7
                          2017: 12:4
                          2018: 10:6

The average of this is exactly 11:5.

Yes, but if I predict all the seeds to win, I am likely to get 11 or 12 right. If you predict five qualifiers to win, you need to get at least three of them right for an overall score of 12. What's the better strategy?

Hence my last sentence in my former post.
Still I did pretty well most of the time with calling some upsets. And I draw more satisfaction from rightfully picking the underdog as a winner than vice versa.
