Anyone who's seen the plight of the orang utans in Borneo and Sumatra should think very hard before ordering cues from a maker who doesn't use wood from FCS or PEFC sources. The forests are being cleared for palm oil plantations at the rate of a football pitch every hour and the trees that are felled aren't sold for firewood.

You p!ssIng in the wind my friend. Since the beginning of colonialism things where fauna and fauna are concerned have taken a drastic hit. Here in Africa wildlife has taken a massive hit. where big game roamed in there hundreds of thousands we now left with genetically starved herds or pockets of wildlife that are also culled to keep population levels so that a protected ecosystem in some game park is managed sustainably. As long as there is demand for these things there is going to be poaching. As long as governments don't protect their natural inheritance things wont improve and being the species we are we will deliberate and procrastinate until it is too late.

    • Yes, it is only after buying the cue that I read that Siamese rosewood could be gone by 2026 and it is illegal to fell those trees. It is a protected species. It's a nice cue of course, it just makes you think. I only read up on the type of wood as I googled siam rosewood out of curiosity.

Governments won't protect anything, especially in Africa where corruption is a way of life, see Zimbabwe elections this week LOL, so it's up to us the customer and if we don't buy then the demand dissapears and it stops, saying that try buying a bar of soap that doesn't contain palm oil.

You live and learn James. There are ways of getting banned timbers, I got some amargo amargo from lake Bayano in Panama where the locals legally source rare timber from trees that are under the surface of the lake that was created by a dam forty odd years ago.

I have been browsing this forum for a while now trying to get ideas and inspiration for a cue design. I suddenly had an idea, why not post up pictures of forum members cues so people can see the different varieties of cues available. I find that looking at mass produced cues quite boring and I'm sure there are people like me who like to see high quality cues. So I propose we make an archive/thread that’s shows all our cues. Post as many pics as you like of your cue, you can even give us a spec of your cue - i.e. - Manufacturer, tip size, wood used in splices, weight etc... Perhaps the cue has a deep meaning for you or perhaps your cue has transformed your game, Does your cue have a funny story attached to it? Post a pic of it and tell us all - why this cue?
Hey, here's my new Maximus Ultimate Cue. Got it little over a week

Thank you. I love this cue. Plays very well. Taking me some time to get used to of it but I love the feel. I need to get some work done with tip. Might shape it like a dome/mushroom

                      • Mike Wooldridge Vintage - Best cue I've ever played with

My Mike Wooldridge Vintage .. 58 inches, 19oz, 9.5 mm Blackspin tip, 28.5 mm butt, with a center cut and an F1 extension option at the bottom....I play pool 9ball and 8 ball mostly as I live in the US ..The cue plays like no other and I have a Parris Ultimate and a Jason Owens cues, not even close in terms of finish and playability.
Mike Wooldridge does seem to do an absolutely amazing job when it comes to playability of the cue...among the other virtues !
Trying to add pic here hope it works ..
