if the dints not bad use glass with a rounded bottom like a pint glass, press down and rub over it, ive done this with one of mine and worked

Yeah, I know about that trick, it's just that the dint is in a weird place, about an inch from the and it's running horizontally.
Which makes it awkward to get at it, with a glass.

tie a bit of towel around it and hold over the top of a kettle.

          A normal household towel?

I also take it that I turn the kettle on, while the towel is wrapped round the cue?

use the steam from the kettle and it will expand the wood

                Still unsure.

Sounds like your going to bugger it up if you don't know what your doing
Tie a corner of a real towel around the cue on top of the dent, then let the hot steam from the kettle soak the towel, the towel will retain the moisture right at the area of the dent swelling the wood and removing the dent. you do know the cue will then need rubbing down and re-oiling ? as steam will make the surface feel rough

                    I know!!!
                    Hehe......

Ah.............right, beginning to think I might leave it.........it's not really affecting how I hold the cue ....
                    Might be the safer option.
