  • Current Snooker Pro Players using maple cues

I know that Stephen Hendry has always used a maple cue and also that Joe Swail and Peter Ebdon used maple although Peter is now using an ash cue.
i just wondered if anyone knows any of the current snooker pros who are using a maple cue as their playing cue. The only ones that I know are Chris Wakelin, Duane Jones, Marco Fu, Alan McManus and James Cahill.
    thanks

Sam Baird is ash unless literally changed in last few weeks. Maguire is ash currently. Ebdon was back on the ash cue in Scottish open.

Sam must have changed to the ash recently, not the other way round

No sorry, he an has used an ash 3/4 parris cue since I have known him lol, he used the ash cue years ago when he lost to Mike Dunn to qualify for crucible playing as an amateur, unless he literally tried a maple 1 event or something I have never seen him with a maple cue

Think he's on an ash cue now, wonder why he changed.

Raymond from Exquisite posted on facebook when he made him a cue that he persuaded him to go back to ash as good quality maple was getting too hard to find. I think Mike Woolridge has said something similar. I don't know what Maguire is playing with now though, but maybe that's something to do with it.

yes, that’s true. Stephen said that with maple he twisted his cue slightly on delivery but wasn’t aware of it so decided to switch to ash where it would be easier to see if he twisted the cue. On his way back home from China when he broke his foot he had left his (then) ash playing cue with his friend, John Higgins to bring home but then he realised that he would need a playing cue the following week so he messaged Stu Green at Greenbaize and Stu selected an ash Ton Praram cue that he thought would be perfect for Stephen as the part of the ash shaft where Stephens chin was on the cue was completely plain and the cue was also perfect specs. Stephen used the cue the following week and actually lost to Judd Trump but messaged Stu to say that he absolutely loved the cue!! Since then he has played brilliant snooker with the cue and hopefully will continue to do so.

It's a lovely cue...a praram limited, after seeing it and hitting a few balls with it I have ordered 2 to try also
