  • Marker for balk line.

I have a supreme winner which came with white markings for the balk line and black spot, does anyone know what marker pen is best to buy to redo the balk line as its starting to fade. Thanks.

Use water soluble white marker which can be taken out when you stretch the cloth. Usually you have to buy a set in the kid's toy department if you can find them

I could be wrong but for some reason I kind of remember this being discussed before and there were pens on ebay like the ones Terry described, might be worth a search on here for the thread and on ebay.

I ordered mine through Staples. The only thing is they are not water base. I went through every office supply store and could not find a kids pack with white in it for the simple reason white does not work very well on white paper. Now I never thought of Toy R Us. The link for Staples us below.

These water based markers can be found in most kid's toys sections. Here in Canada Walmart, Target and even the larger Dollar stores carry them. Real advantage for parents as they can be washed off walls easily with a sponge.

Not sure if every type has white or not but any lighter colour would work for marking a table.

A Supreme winner 7x4 or 6x3 pool table has a glued on cloth so will not require a re-stretch so use any white tippex type fine pen ,

            like this
            http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tipp-Ex-Sh...item4171bd42bd

you have to gently squeeze to apply and there is an art to this , I always try it on the edge of the slate first to get it to apply , then using a good straight edge , start at on end and drag the pen along the cloth in one swipe , do not go back if you can clamp the straight edge to stop it moving then I would recommend it as if you slip it will be permanent
            and forth .

let it dry for 2 mins

remove the straight edge , now you may have a slight ridge , if you have an iron then iron the cloth , the baulk line may take a few irons to get flat , this ink is a tippex type ink and will always be proud of the cloth when first applied , that is why you only swipe it across the cloth once because if you go over it back and forth you will build a very high baulk line that the ball will follow .
You can buy soft white pencils but they fade after just one brush down

another brand you can get is this
            http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pentel-Mic...item338ba1428f

I have used both type and they are available at most good office supply store or shops on the high street

Don't know if this one is any good but it's water based.

the end is too thick on this one .

it wants to be a very fine white line , as the cloth is on a pool table with glued on bed cloth that cannot be re stretched , then it does not have to be water based

Thanks for all replies. I use those tipp-ex pens at work and I could imagine that there is an art to making a good job, and I think it could be easy for the metal tip to catch on the cloth as you are trying to do the line? I've ordered a uni posca water based extra fine marker and I will try it out on an old piece of cloth to see how it works before letting loose on my table. Will report how I get on

Looking forward to your report. I looked everywhere for a white marker and came up empty. I have a white Sharpie paint marker which works good but there is no way of getting it off. I also have a fine metal tip paint pen which is real good for marking the spots but again it will not come off. Terry mentioned you can get any washable marker in the kids section but I do not thik he is actually tried to find one. I even went to Cryola website and when it comes to washable markets they do not make a white. Now another option which I have is a white China pencil marker. The only problem with this is when brushing you remove a lot of the marking. I have heard that World Snooker mark their tables out with much the same. With my table being setup with new cloth this Tuesday I think I will go with the pencil.

Most billiard fitters use the white tippex thin metal tipped pen .

It leaves a residue above the level of the cloth but after a few irons becomes level
it cannot be erased with acetone like a normal black pencil
Did you know that white baulk is only used so that the camera picks it up for TV
Black is the preferred method of marking a table out , a soft lead pencil is used , and on a re-stretch it can be almost erased with acetone.

I think the marking out of tables in white is only asked for as they use it on TV , most fitters will try and get you to accept a Black baulk line, as it is better for the table in home and commercial use , unless you are playing on TV white Baulk line and D has no added benefit .
if the black baulk could be picked up by a TV camera then every one would ask for black .
Peradon sell the soft white baulk pencil , but you have to keep marking it out every week , it will brush off very easy .

you could look through ebay listings for white pencil and they have some amazing offers on some like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/40-x-CONST...item35dfe939d7

or these pencils which are very low cost and you get 72 pencils http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-X-Packs-...item3a848fcdfe

                      these look very professional http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STABILO-AL...item3f2f84e888

to update, after trying a few different pencils, pens and markers on a spare bit of cloth, the best thing I have found for me is the Staedtler Lumocolor Glasochrom white Pencil. When done it looks very similar to the Supreme factory finish, its supposedly a permanent pencil, it does brush off but not as easily as other pencils I have tried.IMG_2062.jpgIMG_2063.jpgIMG_2064.jpg
