  • DEAN H - GUIDE ME! (or anyone else?)

Sorry mate, I just know you're the one who will have the link stored

    TABLE LIGHTING

I'm putting a pool table in the local for my own use and I need the lighting unit... Can't remember where the best site was? Is the Dextra still the unit of choice?

I need to get 5 of them for the club.

    Cheers
    Jack

    What about something like this:

    https://www.homeleisuredirect.com/po...ble-light.html

It's not cheap though for lighting a pool table.

Nah, I'm after something similar to the old duet T5 that I have in my snooker room... The LED's are undoubtedly better but not by so much to justify spending more than double.

Good god, pottr is going over to the dark side! Pool, no less. Do you have one of those special pool cues with the 8mm tip?

If you can fit them yourselves (i.e. got the muscle and qualified electrician, etc) then I think the "Dextra Duet"-TYPE of ceiling units can be sourced from any electrical goods supplier for cheap
          [https://www.dextragroup.co.uk/dextra...ucts/duet-t5/]

The units you get from Peradon/Thurston (as we have in our club now due to maintenance contract ) I think are the same just with a very expensive logo sticker stuck to it

For a pool table obviously you wont need the extra long units and one per table should be enough

There are many makes out there that can work as well - if not better - than the aforementioned make; the main point is the unit should be a duet so two tubes in a unit; have the defusing/reflecting blades to produce a uniform coverage of light; and most important the Wattage rating of the tubes and being High Frequency types to produce less flicker
I cant recall exactly what we have but I think the 5ft tubes we have are around the 30W (equivalent) range.

Our units are between 4.5ft and 5ft off the playing bed and cover very well. (snooker tables - two duet units down the long middle line).

Others have mentioned the very flat LED (?) panels that work for them. But I have not played under those

let us know how you get on (pictures )

things have moved on over the last few year - I hope our resident fitters will come on with the latest and greatest thinking.
Was it Geoff who posted a picture of the table cloth being faded quickly by a LED setup?

            Is that the job?

For a 7ft Supreme Winner do I need one of these or is it the 1800mm ones?

And before I get teased, yes I used to know all this ****... I just got older, crapper and forgot

HAHAHA, rest assured I will not be going over to the Dark Side...

One of my close friends has just opened up a pool club in the area and I'm using my influence to try and fill it for him early doors... Just getting a table in for myself because I can

That looks like what I have seen before but maybe you don't need the 1500 being nearly as long as the playing area itself
Remember with the louvres the light is directed angled outwards - height above playing surface is important
what is the next size down?
you wont need the 1800 - remember this will increase future maintenance and replacement tubes
                but for that money
ease of use and changing tubes is what I think about - nothing worst than a real awkward fitting of a tube by cack-handed bar-staff breaking more tubes than they fit

                  Cheers Deano...

I'll get the 1500 ones... I have two similar at home and they do the job... Changing the lights is simple enough.

                  Thanks.

you will be surprised how many people don't know how to without messing it up; your friend with the club should train the staff to do so correctly; it will save him money in the long run

don't forget the photos when all don't and good

I don't think the actual brand matters.

Don't forget daylight or soft white tubes and not yellow ones

but most I know are now changing twin tubes for led type like these for pool

and two or three of these for snooker

Also watch out for UV fade if left on 24/7

I have seen this on a full size table , cloth faded and tops of balls that where permanent set up and not played on

but here is a report on LED and UV
