  • Fold Marks in New Cloth

We've just had a new Hainsworth Match Cloth fitted and it was a folded cloth and not from a roll.

The cloth now shows all the fold marks like a chess board and any wrinkles in the cloth whilst folding can be seen.

I remember having this a few years ago and can;t remember how to remove them so thought I would pose it on here first.

I'm sure it was sprayed with the old starch spray and then brushed out but couldn't remember.

It didn't budge with a brush or block.

They will eventually disappear naturally with some use.

Just an update for those with the same issue.

I basically got a stiff brush, sprayed the whole cloth with Cloth Cleaner and scrubbed it out, sometimes against the nap.

Once wet enough and scrubbed enough I would then brush it with the nap and then use a napping block with the nap.

I did this twice on the table and a little more on the bad patches.

I ironed it after it dried each time. The table is perfect now which is great.

We had both tables done so I left the other one to see if it would play out as it has been 9 days and the tables are played on constantly, this table isn't much better so I will do the same.

Just in case you are wondering whether any damage would be done to brushing out the marks the cloth is more than fine and looks and feels spot on with no roll off; the roll off on the marks previously was just awful with lots of whining from members.............I should I say the resident table and cloth experts.

It's just where the cloth was folded during transport.

The folds would have come out in a few days with a few passes of the iron.
