  • bridge when cue ball against the cushion, but shooting at an angle

If the cue ball is hard against the rail, but you're aiming at a 45 degree angle relative to the cushion, is it possible to use an open bridge, or should you use a loop bridge?

I have never used a loop bridge

What ever works best for you in practice is the right choice. No hard and fast rule on this one.

There are a lot of coaching videos showing how to do the open bridge when the cue ball is against the rail, i.e. by dipping the palm of the hand below the rail to get as level as possible. However this is harder to do when on an angle because the palm of the hand cannot sit firmly against the side of the rail. I've never seen a coaching video that covers this.
