  • Tournament pressure

    Hi,

One of the intangibles in snooker is how to move your practice game into the tournament environment.

Clearly its an individual thing and its a matter of how each handles it.

Are there particular drills or tips about how to absorb the competition atmosphere to allow you to play your best game.

Ive had times where Ive been able to completely block the importance of it all out and just get on with the game- holding a bit of nervousness to stay on the edge.

At other times- for no obvious reason- the simple pots are hard, the pockets are small and further away etc. These are usually the situations I exit tournaments, almost always prematurely.

Then half an hour after I'm out I can knock anything in on the practice table which even makes things worse.

I know theres no easy answer and intellectually understand the situation for what it is, but are there tips to help stem the tide, practical exercises that in effect allow you to just get on with the game for the reason you play it- to have fun and knock some balls in!
