        the grip is only there to stop the cue falling to the floor, so keep it very loose, pull the cue back with the forearm only, as you bring the forearm back the elbow and forearm will work together and bring the cue to a natural stop, then simply close the forearm forward (no grip involvement) the cue should finish further than it ever has with the smoothest follow through you will ever get

          The OP only put two posts up five years ago he’s probably taken up darts by now .

              I like the advice though, nice little reminder, when things get tough in a match in the past I've unintentionally held the butt of the cue with all the grace and gentleness of the Boston Strangler......
