  • Cuestars trio book trips back to Leeds

A TRIO of Cuestars South of England Under-21 Gold Tour players have qualified for the last-16 of the English Under-14 Championship for the second year running.

Bradley Cowdroy, Jamie Wilson and Mickey Joyce booked trips to Leeds next February via the southern region qualifier at Frames Sports Bar, Coulsdon, Croydon.

In fact, it’ll be Wilson’s third appearance.

Joyce, 11, from Basingstoke; Wilson, 11, from Portsmouth; and Cowdroy, 12, from Bournemouth, all went out at the last-16 stage last season.

Remarkably, it is the eighth season in a row that junior members of Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club have progressed to the same stage of the national competition.

Joyce (who also practises at The Academy, Basingstoke) and Wilson (who is also based at Copnor Snooker Club, Portsmouth) compete in the weekend competitions at Chandler’s Ford.

Cowdroy’s home club is Greenbaize Snooker Club.

Joining the south coast threesome will be Reggie Edwards (Norwich), Jackson Song (London), Evan Plummer (Coulsdon) and James Beaven (Surrey), who will all making first appearances in the final stages.

The last-16 play down to two finalists at the Northern Snooker Centre, Leeds, on Saturday, February 28.
