  • Ford earns place in Cuestars records book

BERKSHIRE break-builder Matt Ford wrote his name into the Cuestars records book after clinching the third leg of the Seniors (40+) Tour in Bournemouth.

The 44-year-old from Bracknell pocketed ?100 prize money following a 2-0 victory over defending rankings champion John Hunter in the final at Greenbaize Snooker Club.

Earlier in the group stages, Ford posted his sixth Cuestars century of 102 against Graham Leech (Hungerford).

And he fired in four other breaks of 50 or more during the event sponsored by Martin Rabbets Snooker & Pool Services.

It means Ford has recorded 151 half-centuries in Cuestars tournaments, more than any other player since records began ten years ago.

He moved up to second place, eight points adrift of Hunter (Andover).

Raj Puri (Rochester), beaten 2-0 by Ford in the last-four, climbed to third place and he is the runaway leader of the Masters rankings, a separate listing for players aged 55 or over.

Hunter beat Wayne Muddiman (Southampton) 2-0 in the second semi.

St James Institute clubmates Carl Davies and Garry Coulson both made quarter-final exits in their first outings of the season.

Waterlooville Sports Bar hosts the fourth leg of eight on Sunday, December 8.
