  • Welsh Open 2014 - Discussion

I think it's time to start discussing this tournament which starts today.
Today defending champion Stephen Maguire will face young Elliot Slessor for a place in the last 64.
Later in the evening , reigning World and Masters champion Ronnie O'Sullivan faces Mitchell Travis.
In action today also Ding Junhui, recent German Masters winner and the in form player of the year against Gary Wilson, very interesting match in my opinion.

What are your thoughts about this event?

I've seen Elliott and Gary play since they were kids. For me Gary has a had a great start to his first season as a professional, should make top 32 at some point and young Elliott has had some very tough qualifying draws and is one for the future. Wish them both luck today.

I've just looked all through my tv listings for the next few days and cant seem to see the Welsh Open anywhere? From memory, last year i'm fairly sure i watched it on the BBC sport website, and it was shown on EuroSport, anyone shed any light?

Think we get the semis and final on the red button up here in Scotland. Can't remember if there's anything via the BBC website.

Ding seems to be relaxed and sharp with a century in
the first frame. He may be tough to beat this tournament.
Looking forward to some great snooker.

So Stevens and Wicheard are in a decider and Wicheard is in first. Nervous times if your a Stevens fan.

                              So Stevens scrapped through.

Robert Milkins lost to Scott Donaldson. Bit of a shocker that. Scott was potting well and has a good safety game. One to watch out for.
