  • 2017 World Championship Qualifiers

I'd be interested to know how the 16 additional qualifiers for this year's World Championship will be decided, as there's not (yet) much information here:

    http://www.snooker.org/res/index.asp?event=535

    - Will a new ranking list (down to 144) be drawn up directly after the China Open?
    - Will players 17 to 32 be "seeded" in the sense that none of them can play against each other in the first qualifying round, or are all pairings from 17 to 144 simply chosen at random?

Looks pretty tough for the first round losers - no financial reward for a maximum slog of 19 frames!

Do they ask the Q School players in the order of merit ?

If a Pro doesn't enter a Tournament , i believe that they ask the players who were at Q School .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

Yes, with the top 16 being seeded to the competition proper of last 32.

The 128 players competing in the qualifying include the tour players outside the top 16, plus Q School top ups (EBSA Order of Merit), WPBSA invites, various IBSF winners, AND the 2017 World Seniors Champion.
