Me to. I think Ding is overdue and he finally has to win. But it's maybe just my feeling that his time has come. If I need more my head than my guts to play it through i come to this conclusio:

        Quarterfinals
        Selby - Fu
        O'Sullivan - Ding
        Wilson - Higgins
        Hawkins - Trump

        Semifinals:
        Selby - O'Sullivan
        Wilson - Trump

        Final:
        Selby - Trump

        Winner: Selby

I am not sure why there are two thread going covering exactly the same ground. Ordl and JimMalone's excellent previews should be in the same thread.

I see the matches in terms of most likely to least likely upset as,

            McGill - Maguire
            Day - Xiao
            Carter - Dott
            Murphy - Bingtao
Higgins - Gould - I put this one so high because Gould is right up there among the best of the qualifiers and Higgins has been out of form recently
Allen - J. Robertson - against a better qualifier Allen would be even higher up the list, maybe even on top, given his very bad season.
            Wengbo - Carrington
            Fu - Brecel
            Hawkins - Ford
            K. Wilson - Grace
            N. Robertson - Saengkham
            Ding - Zhou
            Bingham - Ebdon
            O'Sullivan - G. Wilson
            Trump - McLeod
            Selby - O'Brien

There are quite a few matches in the first round that are tough to call, I can see Day being upset as I never am confident with his ability to keep it strong mentality in a first to 10 for the whole time. I alwys fancy him having a lapse in focus, whether Guodong can take advantage of that is another matter though. It's strange that the number one seeded player is facing a higher ranked opponent than the number 2 seed, I wonder why that is. It's great that it's all about to start.....

It's cause the first round oppontents are determined by draw. Only the 16 seeds have their fix place and they can draw any of the 16 qualifiers. Selby could also have drawn Martin Gould.

The more I think about it the harder seems Dings draw. If he really is to win the title he will have definitely deserved it. Of course we never know whom the players will really face in the end. Plenty of upsets possible.

2 big kicks already and springboard cushions, it's gonna be interesting to see if any of them cost a frame!

                              Indeed!
                              Shocking reactions so far shockerz!
I'm beginning to believe that ROS' notion that it's the player that hits the cue ball badly that courses the kick along with all the other theory's? It simply just isn't be a case of material or static reaction like other previous theory's have suggested...
Anyway. Would make an excellent thesis for a student of physics.

Selby starts leading comfortably against O´Brien. 2-0 and 41-0 at this point. I prefer to watch the other match, but in Eurosport Spain just they are with Selby´s
