Been watching Selby's grip and he is so good with the white that he rarely opens his grip up on the backswing.

It almost looks like he has a constant fist.....

A pity that Maguire is comfortably ahead now. Expected the tartan tussle to be a lot closer. Not that Eurosport is showing it anyway ...

Well, that was surprising, Maguire 7-2 up after the first session, scoring 419 points without reply. If he clears the table in the next frame, the record could go. It took him a while to get going though, and McGill did himself no favours by leaving him in the balls so many times. No way should McGill have lost this session so heavily...

Poor Fergal O'Brien is now in real danger of joining Eddie Charlton, who is so far the only player to suffer a whitewash at the Crucible (in the opening round 1992 against defending champions John Parrott).

To be honest, M. Selby isn't really playing his top stuff. He's had a few missed which annoyed him.
But Fergal isn't punishing him at all. Can't imagine how Dave Gilbert must feel right now. Let's hope he's not watching this.

Don't really want to see that happen. He's having a bit of a go in frame 9, 33-0 up so here's hoping!

Last I heard it is a Maximus Ultimate with Trad-like design which he has used since last year.

Great to see the crowd cheering for Fergal and he himself also smiling after he finally wins his first frame.

Odds on a comeback..............more than Leicester to win the Premiership last year?

What is wrong with the BBC today, specifically their sound levels?
Earlier the commentary with very low, then a VT piece was low, and now this ROS VT is low as well.
Chat with Hazel, etc. is perfect.
                            come on aunty!
please don't push me to Colin Murray!
