  • World Championship Roll Call

    Right, who is going?

I got tickets for the opening Saturday and Sunday. I'm seeing Ricky Walden, Mark Williams and Barry Hawkins matches. I'm getting a bit excited.

    Anybody else got tickets?

I'll be there from Friday 26th until the end, although work might get in the way and I may not arrive till the Saturday 27th.

This year will be my 20th final!

That's awesome, man. I've been to two finals. (The first Ronnie vs Carter final, and the Higgins vs Trump final.) I hope to go to a final again sometime.

I been a good few times down the years should be good. Liked it best back when 888 sponsored it and they had the casino the stretch limo the 888 girls, loads of free drink and circus acts on outside in the square.
I think Dott won that year cant remember as I am getting old and I was quite drunk back then as I vaguely remember.

I don't remember any of that. I think that year I was up for the opening day though. So, didn't see the celebrations for the final. It was the first year I'd been.

Went to The Graduate once. Never done The Monk.

My drinking comes in the hotel bar. I'm quite boring like that. Prop up the bar, few pints and discussing the days matches with the other punters there for the snooker.

Monk is alwite as a day time pub, quite handy to grab a meal in there between sessions (the buffet chinese is great for that too ) Grad is good for evenings tho. Lot cheaper than drinking in a hotel as well.

Well I won't be attending, but have taken 2 weeks off from work to fully enjoy this year's Championship...I'm really looking forward to it...bring it on.

And hey...let's be careful out there! (some of you may be old enough to remember that one )

I'm always in that Chinese restaurant.

Yeah, it's inhumane they can ask you to work whilst The Crucible is on.

Probably should venture out more to the pubs. But when everyone in the hotel where I stay is there to watch snooker, it can be nice to have a pint or six and chat to people about the day's happenings.

I went to The Brown Bear once to watch some late night boxing. It was a Friday night, and as I remember I was the sad-act in the corner trying to watch telly whilst everybody else was out partying.

Well the Graduate is the place to be!

Endless repeats of the day's action (or Cliff's 147!) on the screens, all the refs and a fair few of the players guaranteed to be there too - notably Martin Gould (even if he's already been knocked out!).

                            And us!

Funny you say that, the one time I went to The Graduate it was after the Higgins vs Trump final I was at, and Martin Gould was there despite being knocked early. I went for a slash and Martin Gould was in there. The dirty bleeder didn't wash his hands.

I might pop in. Like I say, I tend to prop up the hotel bar, which always has the same replays and stuff on as it's a hotel with lots of snooker fans in. But if there's nobody good to talk to, I might wonder in see what's happening there.
