  • Impossible to escape snooker ?

Had a situation the other day in a friendly where a red was potted and the white embebbed itself in the pack of reds, which left no possible escape route to hit any colour.

We both agreed there was no shot and my oppo would just have to play a deliberate foul as we couldn't see any other Possible option.

So my question is, what would happen in a professional match?

    Thanks.

I guess a deliberate foul conceding 4 points. Is that right Dean?

Both of you are correct, ish
If there is no possible way the cue-ball can be played to a ball-on without contacting any other ball not on, the player has to play the cue-ball in such a manner (direction and strength) that it would, without the intervening ball(s), hit the ball-on (Red or nominated colour).
The penalty would be four penalty points or the value of the ball on or nominated ball value is more.
In the scenario above a MISS will not be called

If the player just strokes the cue-ball without attempting to hit the ball-on, a MISS would be called.
      Up the TSF! :snooker:

Thanks Dean - I guess that makes sense, although it's unfortunate for the player he shouldnt really be able to gain advantage from it by just tapping a ball closest.
