  • Rubber tips?

Have rubber tips ever been experimented with to any extent?

I don’t play, but is it that absurd an idea? Surely there’s a rubber composite of some sort that would have the right properties. Might even be the way towards the first chalkless tip.

I have a vague recollection of something that was tried some years ago - but not very successful; anyone recall these?

There were rubber tips out years ago ,I remember being in a pub with a pool table that had them ,the idea was about as useful as fitting ejector seats to helicopters

I actually tried one, orange it was and didn't work at anything above slow pace, which defies the object of the so called increased grip on the cue ball. I also have an artificial leather tip which I haven't tried yet, probably won't bother.

I bought a pack of three once. Couldn't get on with them though.

You needed a featherlite touch with these ones.
