Question foul on red

Good morning. Thanks in advance for your time and sorry if my English is not correct. Yesterday i tried to hit a red ball but hit the brown. After hitting the brown the blue ball went in the pocket. I gave my opponent 5 points but he said it was 4 because according to him the first contact was a 4 points foul. Please inform me what was the right decision. Thanks!

Never just "First Contact"

You were right.

When multiple fouls occur in a stroke, the highest value is applied.
So in your scenario the Blue is pocketed, value of 5; penalty points of 5.
