Hi,
I know this topic has been discussed here several times already but I just wanted a clarification on few things. I used to think that a soft tip is better than a rock hard one. But the general consensus seems to be the opposite here. Why is this?
I've been playing with a second hand 3/4 Peradon Century cue for quite some time now. When I got it I wasn't happy with the tip on it. I felt I couldn't do the screws I used to be able to do. After spending some time online searching for a better tip I eventually put a Kamui Black Medium on it. Took me a while to get it bedded in and into a shape that I liked but still I feel it's not much better if at all than the original tip (Elkmaster I think). Maybe it's the cue itself? Maybe it's my cueing gone worse?
I somehow tend to think that a softer tip would grip on the cue ball better and throw it into a stronger spin on release. I just ordered some Talisman Softs and a tip press. I've never used a tip press before and have no idea what the difference between a pressed and just plain shaped tip is so if anyone could shed some light here, I'd be grateful.
Cheers,
Kari
