Buying a Cue

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a new cue and have been considering a John Parris Ambassador cue. I'd appreciate any feedback on this cue and whether there are better options for the same price range.
I live in Sri Lanka, so getting hold of a good hand made cue is not easy.

the few ambassador cues iv tried have been very nice. if i remember rightly they both had 9mm ferrles/tips

I'm looking for a 3/4 cue, with a 9mm or 9.5mm tip, with a weight of around 18oz to 18.5oz.
Ash shaft, with an Ebony butt.
I'd also like to get the the mini butt extension and also the full length telescopic extension, plus an aluminium case.

I have an ambassador. It originally had a 9mm ferrule, that's now nearer 8.5mm. It's a nice cue, but too whippy, with too small a tip for me to play snooker well with. Great pool cue though.

Of course a cue's characteristics is more individual than it's maker and model. It's all about the individual wood. I have cues that cost a fraction of the price that I prefer. I will at some point sell my ambassador.

Additionally, I've recently heard that some British Cue makers actually get the shafts done from Thailand, and only do the finishing themselves. Is this true?
I've seen on the Parris cues site that they do the building of the cue themselves from start to finish, including the selection of the wood. I'm keen to find out the veracity of this. Does anyone know?

Classic has a 9.5 ferrule rather than the 9.0 on the Ambassador which makes it more suitable for snooker
