How do you get the tip so neat looking with a black finish round the edge?
    Hi Craig147,

I'm using black Phoenix tip that's why the side is black
I cut the sand paper strip to almost the same as the tip height and carefully just sanding the tip and not to touch the ferrule. (it may have some scratches but can be fine sand later)

Increasing the grade of the sand paper gradually so the side of the tip will finish nicely especially to normal press tip where there's "hair" sticking out.
For paper I used grade 380, 600, 1000, 2000 then Steel wool grade 00000 to finish off.

Then I apply clear wax (Kiwi) to polish the tip and brasso to clean the ferrule.

The picture on my post is a black Phoenix medium laminated tip. It's the first laminate I've ever used. At first the sound and feel felt strange to me always having been an elk or BD player. However once I started to get used to ignoring the sound, which wasn't too hard because the results I was getting with side and spin were good, I really liked the consistency. Ive had a lot of inconsistent elks and BD's and won't be returning to them now I've found these.

Never moved from the Elks. And yes, there are so many crap Elk in a batch. Been tempted by a hard Talisman. :snooker:
