2 Free Ball Questions

1. If your opponent misses all the reds off the break off shot and leaves the white in a position to still be able to hit the reds is this a free ball as you wouldn't be able to hit both sides of any red because they are still in a triangle.

2. If your opponent makes a foul with 1 red left on the table and this 1 red is touching the cushion so you are only able to hit 1 side of it is this a free ball?

1) No free ball, as reds do not count as obstructing balls
2) No free ball as cushions do not count

Each red is taken individually, ie. reds can not be snookered by a red/reds, so if you can theoretically hit the extreme edges of any red, no free ball.

2. If your opponent makes a foul with 1 red left on the table and this 1 red is touching the cushion so you are only able to hit 1 side of it is this a free ball?

if you can still hit the two extreme edges of the red no free ball.
Extreme edges is not the diametrically opposed edges because as you get closer to the object ball the closer the extreme edges become.
Also cushions are not taken into account with free ball decisions.
