  • In the market for a full size table

Hi, I'm new on here and joined initially to get your advice. I'm converting my garage into a snooker room . I have exactly the right dimensions to cue properly all round, so thats sorted. My dilemma is where to buy it. Second hand, using a relocation company? New from FC Snooker or other, or reconditioned from the companies that supply those? I like the F C Snooker route because they have steel cushion rails and prices look sensible. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I would contact Geoff Large (https://gclbilliards.com/) who is a member on TSF, he does not sell himself but knows of available tables; and what he does not know about fitting tables "aint worth diddly"

Also another member Maryfield sells and fits tables.

Approximately whereabouts are you located, table fitters do travel for work but this may help
    Up the TSF! :snooker:

Firstly FC Snooker are imported Chinese tables of low quality. Much wiser to buy a refurbished UK table such as Aristocrat or Karnhem Hillman. BCE Westbury are also a good choice.

Here's one we did last week

There is a company in liverpool called alliance that take high quality old tables and give them steel blocks etc...

I would recommend maryfield as I got a table from him also. I know he travels the country and fits them also.

Definitely go for a second hand English table. Geoff Large sourced mine for me and it was an amazing deal. He always has several for sale on his site.

BTW are you aware that there is a separate "Tables" section of the forum where many relevant points are discussed?

Steel blocks are good but if you get a very good, old table, it should be made of Brazilian mahogany. That stuff is so dense that it plays like a steel blocked table.
