  • It was snooker.

      • Was it something to do with Ray making a chip in the white or somehow losing the white ball, meaning they had to use the closest in colour to the white or lowest in value (yellow) as a cue ball?

          [Long shot!]
Correct! A couple of hairline fractures had emerged on the white, so the white and yellow ball were swapped and play continued (i.e. the white was placed on the yellow spot and the yellow was used as a cue ball).

Congratulations JPK123 - that is half a point. And for the other half, what was special about the frame?

I think it was Joe Johnson who left himself wrong side of the blue and elected to drop it in and leave a longish pink - in the UK champs if memory serves me correctly, but not 100% sure on who he was playing

This is indeed the correct answer Mal! It was in the semi final of the 87 UK against Jimmy White.

Scoreboard operator please give Mal his point!

                        • Good break that was but as Mal said, he went too far on the blue (screwing back from the brown) and ended up jawing the pink. Joe was 2-0 down at the time and ended losing, I think, 9-4. Jimmy then went on to lose in the final to Davis 16-14, when Steve made 4 or 5 centuries in the match and Jimmy a 139.

That is so close to the correct answer that you can have ¾ point for it!

The other ¼ can go to anyone (including yourself!) who can make the minor correction needed to make it an absolutely correct answer.
