  • Ssb - hearn gets sponsor for wembley masters

Barry Hearn, who has been WPBSA chairman for three weeks, has secured a one-year sponsorship deal with PokerStars, the world's largest online poker room, to back next week's Wembley Masters.

Hearn says the level of financial support being offered by the company is "acceptable" for a last minute deal and that it was "very difficult" to secure a three year arrangement so close to the event.

The online gaming industry is one of the few doing well in the current econnomic climate, so their interest in snooker is most welcome.

It also proves that Hearn has the contacts to bring some much needed money into the sport.

well I heard Clive Everton saying yesterday during Ronnie's match in championship league that Ronnie will not play with that purple cue in the Masters, it was only for publicity purposes.

I agree Barry should have been Chairman years ago, snooker would be on a par with PDC Darts.

If he can get a sponsor as big as PokerStars involved with snooker after just 3 weeks, just think what he can do in 3 months.

Hopefully he can get a new long term deal with PokerStars after the Masters has finished.

                        Well done Barry

I'm assuming by the fanfare that you all know exactly how much Pokerstars are paying for the Masters then ?

I'm all for Hearn but don't make the mistake that everything he touches will be gold plated automatically ...
