It will not be a ranking event, its a invitational event and it looks like the Indian Snooker and Billiards Federation have jumped the gun a little with the announcement, there is nothing official yet from World Snooker.

the 6 wildcards for the ranking event in India is totally different, and has nothing to do with the main tour.
is the ranking event in india a sure thing ?

because theres nothing on the WS Website

No it will probably be in the slot which The Malta Cup would be in at the start of the month as it is only a (Invitational) 1 week event.

But this would mean that the rumored return of The Malta cup is either not on the cards or set for another date.
