It is well known he has Glandular Fever, surely a penalty for not playing is calling him a liar .... WHAT NEXT ?

He is the biggest card they have in the deck, how can they expect him to play if he is ill ? I love the game and feel privileged to be able to sit down and watch him play, he really is something special, that said, I would not expect him to play if he is ill.

Not as bad as the ignorance behind the decision that Chris Small recieved a few years back from the WPBSA benevolent fund.

Chris has actually received a payment from The WPBSA a few months ago.

If he was too ill to take part in the event, why was he boarding a flight to Ireland to take part? It seems he was well enough to fly and take part until the incident on board the plane.

I think the problem is he withdrew so late that it wasn´t possible to get Michael White to Ireland in time to replace him.

There's probably some truth to both sides of this story.

Never realised this was the case. Long overdue.

it could be argued that he tried his best to take part thats why he withdrew late

It could also be argued that he is using his current illness as an excuse for withdrawing after spitting the dummy and getting off the plane in a huff after an altercation. The 2nd one seems much more likely as he wasn't complaining about feeling ill on the plane, he was moaning about his allocated seat, and hence the fine for his late withdrawal.
