Can say that I am not totally surprised after the other recent statements about how much WS charge SWSA to hold each event, etc.
Maybe WS got a tad greedy and "priced" themselves out of a perfect venue?
      Up the TSF! :snooker:

i wonder if its to do with the fact that the ptcs were intended to be for at least 5 years. Now in year 3 most of the ptcs are in europe and asia. Is this one of the reasons for the desision as well as world snooker charging?

?? what I have not heard is how much WS is charging other venues for other events (ptc and others)?
          Anyone?

I've heard a rumor that Paul and the SWSA are planning a slew of Pro-Am events, to be held most w/ends for the support of the grass root circuit. Let's hope so as snooker at that level desperately needs a shot in the arm.

Good luck to all of those at the SWSA.

Im not surprised by this at all. Attendence has been poor overall in ptc 1 & 2 (possibly affected by the Olympics clash in timing). Not only swsa has to pay to host the event, high table maintenance and relevant overheads arent covered by poor attendence/streaming fees, as well as practice table fees, which are all peanuts compared to what swsa has to pay out to host these events.

It doesn't make any business/common sense at all.

Rather, having people to hire the venue/equipment and hiring in house coaches/other services would make a lot more sense because every aspect of swsa would be used to generate a steady source of cash to maintain the place. Hosting pro am/grass roots events at least can ensure having people to pay to come, instead of having swsa to pay people to come.

on another TSF thread (I forget which but thanks to Souwester) we found out that the SWSA pays World Snooker £10,000 to host each PTC event ... World Snooker does recloth the tables included in that price ...

I guess SWSA's potential revenue streams are advertising from sponsors such as Peter's Pies and MIUS, gate money from visitors at £10 per day etc ... but it doesn't seem a good deal for the SWSA given their costs ...

btw, here's links to the SWSA sponsors I know about ... please take the time to visit their websites ...

                    Peter's Pies ... http://www.petersfood.co.uk/
                    MIUS ... http://www.mius.org.uk/

hopefully, Janie or Sarah will let us know if there are other sponsors we should be supporting

Errrm, I don't think I was the source of that information!

Paul may well pay World Snooker 10k per PTC event but what has not been mentioned is that he also gets to keep the entry fees from the amateurs who enter the PTC's

                          Do the math.

I had a very interesting conversation with someone last night and if they are correct in what they are saying then the reasons behind the pulling of events at The SWSA is pathetic, I can not say what it is at the moment as I need to check the facts behind what I have been told first.

Was it something to do with players who aren't based at the SWSA moaning that the players who practice there full time are getting an advantage by any chance? I know I've heard stories that a few players who don't practice there are unhappy that these players know the tables and conditions and therefore its unfair to hold a tournament based on tables where other players practice full time.
Its the equivalent I guess of having home advantage in football. I don't know if this is the actual reason given but its certainly an issue.

I believe the source was Paul Mount himself in the previous statement or the reply to the previous thread you mentioned.
