  • And that makes 84 not out for Reanne

REANNE Evans cruised to victory in the Connie Gough National Championship to extend her record run on the women’s snooker circuit to 84 matches without defeat.

The six-time women’s world champion defeated Portsmouth’s Emma Bonney 3-0 in the final at Fareham Snooker Club in Hampshire

It was 25-year-old Evans’ 28th ranking title on the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association circuit.

World number three Bonney, 34, led in the first frame but awkward bridging while she was sat on the edge of the table left the pink in the jaws.

A 36 break gave Evans a 1-0 lead and she wrapped up the third with a 65.

“I don’t like to give too many chances away,” she said. “I played some good safety and that got me in. Emma missed a couple.”

Bonney admitted she had chances in the first two frames and insisted she’s not prepared to roll over for the undisputed world number one.

“I do always believe I can beat her,” she said. “As whoever watches me play in practice, and who knows me, has that belief that I can.

“I’m definitely not just satisfied with getting to the final and then losing to Reanne.”

Evans, from Dudley, West Midlands, heads to Bury St Edmunds next month seeking a seventh world title.

“Hopefully I can carry on the run,” she said.

Katie Henrick’s first appearance of the season ended in a 3-0 last-four defeat by Evans. In the second semi, Bonney accounted for world number two Maria Catalano 3-0.

Catalano, 29, from Dudley, West Midlands, contributed the highest break of the event, a 74 against 11-year-old Woking schoolgirl Jasmine Bolsover in the last-16.

Vicky Carter (Hemel Hempstead) defeated Marianne Williams (Smallfield, Surrey) 2-0 to claim the Plate trophy.

Hannah Jones, from Derby, won the junior title, beating Bolsover 2-0 in the final. The 14-year-old climbed one place to sixth after reaching the quarter-finals of the main event.

The World Championships will be the sixth and final ranking event on this season’s WLBSA tour.
