  • Max break + ?

Has there ever been a televised break of OVER 147 ?

  • #2
I'm pretty sure there isn't one, since there isn't any made during televised stage. And I don't think there is even a home made one.

What do you mean by home made? If you mean is it impossible to beat a 147 the answer is yes, a 155 break is possible if your opponent fouls and leaves you with a free ball. Jamie Cope is said to have made a 155 break in practice before.

In answer to the first question, I don't think there has been one.

I find snooker on a smaller table MORE difficult ! More likely to snooker yourself !

that may be the case, but other things like the longest shot on a smaller table being much shorter than that on a big table etc should be considered too

Sounds like you need to play with smaller balls. Here is what all the top pros use when practising breakbuilding.

I have an "instructional" video featuring Alan Mcmanus and Jimmy White and Jimmy is videoed making a 155......totally blag of course as there are soooooo many "cuts" in the film......I suspect that he missed a few times but still makes fun viewing............crap sound production...........

There is a televised 16 red clearance by Steve James (remember him?) on you tube, i forget the actual score might not have even been a 147 as he had to take some low valued colours but still a stunning performance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=s7mNXD5hddk

Apologies if it is one of many, its the only one i know of.

Jamie Burnett holds the highest ever break in competiton, a 148. It was not televised and there has never been a telivised break over 147.

Never been one televised, let alone in tournament play.
