  • Ultimate order finally in progress!

Well having ordered my Parris Ultimate on the 31/07/14 I finally got an email this morning to say my order is now in progress 😀 I've seen from some other owners on here that I'll probably have about another 2-3 months before delivery. That sound about right to all you Ultimate owners out there?

    Cheers

3/4 as opposed to 1pc, that is the difference.

Its not that a 3/4 cue is quicker to make, I imagine its largely down to the fact that the majority of orders are for 1pc cues and also finding the right shafts. Far easier to cut from a board to find a certain grain pattern with a shorter shaft than it is for a full length cue. So therefore to get on with orders the 3/4 cues are done seperately and not in terms of when the order was placed. So its obvious that those of us who placed our orders for 1pc JPU's back in 2012 or before are in a seperate pile of orders to those who order 3/4 cues.

Ordered my JPU 31/07/12 it's still not in progress, I rang John the other week and he said they hadn't even picked s shaft for me yet! and that I probably won't get mine till spring next year...He was only up to Feb 2012 in the order list... his prices have gone up twice since I placed my order, ÂŁ1088 for my design now

Good point I think - no doubt some people wait that long they get used to a different spec of cue and they end up on e-bay.

I also think paying just the ÂŁ100 deposit don't help matters with these cue makers either, they like suck you in with this IMO because they know they can leave you hanging and also how many people do you think would throw over a grand away and wait 2 or 3 years for their purchase to arrive.

Lol seems my hope for 2-3 months more may be very misplaced!
Went for a 3/4 butt, 57 3/4", 10mm tip, 29mm butt diameter and 18oz. Ebony butt with 4 secondary rosewood splices.
Thing is when I realised I was looking at 2 years instead of 1 I picked myself up a second hand MW black legend and tbh it's the best cue I've ever played with period. The ultimate will need to go some to beat it. I thought about cancelling the order as I was so happy with the MW but decided to go ahead as I've always wanted a Parris since I started playing snooker and I know it will be easy to resell if I decide I prefer the MW!

I also cannot believe 3 years or more, it just astounds me. Is he really that busy what with 11 or 12 apprentices? I've never ordered nor owned an Ultimate (although I would like to try one out somehow). I decided to purchase from Mike Wooldridge and I got EXACTLY what I ordered and have been using that cue now for around 2 years.

Now I'm in a bit of a problem as I ordered a laminated 1-pc cue and it seems to play just as well as my MW. At least I have a spare if my MW requires repairs sometime. Laminated cue is a MAC from Richy.

3 to 4 years wait time for a cue. That's nuts!

Not really, people order the specs they are used to and somehow believe that another one the same will improve their game, doesn't work that way, that's why they end up on ebay.
