  • Who do you this is the #1 snooker player?

Just thought it would be nice to know what peoples views were on this, i've always thought that Stephen Hendry had the best all round game.

In todays game i dont think there are the people that dominate like they used to, you had joe davis for years then steve for the 80's and steven for the 90's but since about 1999 there has been a few that could have powered away but didnt, I remeber thinking john higgins would when he won a few tournements on the bounce and looked invincible, then mark williams came good and looked like he was opening a gap, but they all seem to have a bad patch that steve and stephen didnt have.

Ronnie O'sullivan is always threatening to dominate but he seems to blow up now and again then looses the plot but he does seem to be calming down since he hooked up with ray reardon...

I dont know really but i suspect if ronnie does get with it and really decide to play then he could have his way with the game for a few years but only if he really wants it......

I don't get a lot of time to catch up on snooker news, and it doesn't get a lot of tv coverage here in Australia, so my opionion of who is good may be laughed at.
So here goes......I have to go with youth, and the only youth i have seen is Hunter.

I don't like his hair, but I love his talent. Keep in mind i don't get to see a lot of snooker, but what I have seen of him is an ability to take on the shots that others won't.....and get them.

He's only 26......surely he can be world champion? Maybe not next year...but he's got plenty of time.

Hunter is good, at 26 he has years ahead of him yet but why does he continue to wear the girlie alice bands (makes him look a divvy!)

I think Hunter may get to next years world final.. Only to be shot down by the Masterful Rocket himself

If I had it my way......i'd be the champion. But alas, i do not have the "natural talent" that they say you must have to be champion. Nor do I practice 12 hours a day, AND my table is only 8feet long.
I have to think intently on most shots, and I can still make it look bad

what is 'a divvy'? homosexual ? I do have to say, he'd probably have more support if he looked manly

Wish i had a table of my own, i have a back garden 50 meters long and 30 wide, i could easily get a shed at the bottom big enough to fit a full size one in but the wife wont let me .

My table is in my garage. So it's just aswel that I don't like my car very much because it's got no hope in hell of ever being in there. Suites me...table is probably worth more.
You need to compromise with the wife mate. It's not a matter of her letting you have one....it's a matter of, what can you give to her in return for getting a table put in. Seems to me you've got all the room you could possible need for a table. The biggest factor is usually cost.

Easily Ronnie O'Sullivan - he has a natural talent, can play either handed as well. Only his mental state stands in his way sometimes.

Natural talent. Who defines if you have natural talent? And why is it considered so important? I think it is a term too loosly thrown around.
Secondly, If I was fortunate to be playing on the professional circuit, I think I might take offense to hearing someone say I have 'natural talent'. People are saying players have natural talent so often that it's lost all meaning. It's as if they're implying that the player hasn't praticed countless hours per day everyday since they were old enough to see over the edge of the table.
Sorry, but this is a pet hate of mine this natural talent BS. ANYONE can be champion given the effort.
Give people some credit for christs sake rather than telling them that their hard earned skill came naturally.

Yes, Ronnie is a great player...but his attitude stinks.

I think if Terry Griffiths played the Rocket in a final it would be close but I sincerely believe Ronnie would pip him to the title.. Just my opinion..

Snazzy, Divvy means stupid etc.. Sorry for the confusion, I know how things can get upside down there

ronnie o'sullivan has the greatest natural talent but he always seems to blow it if he gets his act together he will be the greatest player ever

Perhaps he is 'the greatest natural talent' - so some people keep saying as if one could measure talent !... He got his act together last April-May. Hardly eversince. Otherwise you kind of ask him to cease being ... himself !!!...

best player hendry in the 90s most natural talent easily ronnie best safety game steve davis and ray reardon

best all round steve davis but if everyone was on their top form at same time i would pick hendry

... and I would have to agree. But what if we could mix Jimmy's charm & guts, Hendry's cool head & technique, Steve's safety play & sense of humour, Ronnie's way of being ( at times ) pure living poetry ?????????
