  • Ronnie & Friends Berlin, 05.06.10

It was a wonderfull evening yesterday! Neil and Judd managed to get the crowd gpoing during their match, Judd made a Centuriebreak and Neil presented the WSC Trophy (or something that looked a lot like it). Then Steve and Ronnie played and guess what? Steve beat Ronnie 4:2, but Ronnie made a beautifull high break of 132 points. fluten, aggressive, precise: the rocket:-)

Ronnie, Steve, Judd and Neil were in Munich yesterday (June 6).
          Very high quality exhibition

The Krone Circus is a bit of a strange venue for snooker: it's a circus!
Neil didn't come with a kangoroo ... he came with the trophy and first thing he did was "tour" it in the venue

          Neil Robertson 4-3 Judd Trump
Neil immediately made his intentions clear by knocking in a ton in frame one! He was determined to get revenge for the previous day beating... It was a very entertaining open match with the right mixture of good breaks and the odd miss. It was also littered with small funny incidents ... Neil tripping on the carpet a few times, Judd savagely hitting the white and sending it under the stage (a technician had to "crawl" under it to bring it back to Michaela.

          Ronnie 4-3 Steve Davis
Ronnie opened the match with an impressive 128 total clearance... clearly he wasn't in the mood to get beaten this time. Steve however is back in winning mood obviously and made 2 tons of his own to force a decider. The last frame provided all the twists and turns that make for a good "suspense". Ronnie needed the pink to win.
It was a great, great game, high quality from both, excellent break building but also a few very good safety battles (and neither Steve nor Ronnie are slouches at safeties) and they obviously enjoyed it.
Funny incidents? Yes. For some reason Ronnie's chalk was not in the mood to stay in his pocket and he kept looking for it under the table every couple of shots. Bernie Mikelheit, the referee was almost made "bald" by a frustrated Steve swinging his cue just above the poor man's head after losing position. Bernie was philosophical: "I need a hair cut anyway... " Ronnie shoes looked new well they were very new! He had to by them in a hurry just before the match after he discovered he had forgotten his shoes in his Berlin hotel room.

Speed snooker - Neil defended his title!
Young local player Gerald made himself proud and outed Judd Trump in round 1, but Ronnie and Neil proved too strong for him in round 2. And Neil won the final round vs Ronnie.

Gerald then had the opportunity to play a frame with Neil.

Steve concluded the snooker evening with his usual trick shots, before the players lined up for the autograph session.

          An excellent evening of snooker!
          Pictures coming soon.

Not sure you will appreciate the blurry side of them. I do. Somehow they are very atmospheric.

They had traveled from UK to Berlin the previous day, played there and signed autographs till late. Then on that day they had traveled from Berlin to Munich, and played another exo. Ronnie added some pressure on himself by forgetting his shoes in Berlin and having to find another pair in a hurry in Munich (on a Sunday afternoon ) ... Pictures where taken after the games but before the autograph session. They were all pretty shattered! Nothing more (unless you can get drunk on sprite, coca-cola, water and pizzas!)

PS: Steve and most of the "team" did go out in a Mexican the previous night, but the "boys" (Judd, Neil and Ronnie) all opted out and went to bed.
