How do i sell my Private Car Registration ?

Hi guys hope someone on here can help my with the ins and outs of selling my private car reg.

I have never bought or sold a private plate before so any help with this issue would be very helpfull.

You get a retention certificate from dvla and then when you sell it, you hand over the cert so it can be used again. Check online with dvla. I think thats how it works.

correct - you have to pay £105 to put it on certificate, take your mot certificate and v5 and tax disc to your local dvla office and they will give you back the cars original number or assign a new one. is the reg valuable?

Thanks guys...not to my knowledge Andrew round about £750 it is currently on my Saab 93 that i will soon be selling but iwant to sell the plate first before i sell the car but like i say just not sure how this is done.

pretty easy to do but generally you have to wait about a bit (its goverment after all!)- last time i did it you could not do it online and had to turn up at the office - might be different now

not sure - i have always kept them on retention. all depends if somebody really wants to buy it - you could always ebay it and see what happens.
