I'm claiming to be the FIRST
to shape a tip as follows; I just received a Aurora tip which is completely unshaped. Long story shortened, instead of dome shaping which if you observe gives the least contact with the cue ball!!. So with this reasoning I first shaped a 45 degree flat surface then hollow ground the contact edge of the tip leaving the top nice and flat (can still see the A stamp). Now when I place the ball against the tip edge it fits into the hollow ground groove which offers maximum contact with the cue ball when applying side.
I've used the tip for about 10 hours now and kind of excited about it. To look at the tip it appears to be domed because of the impacts against the cue ball but I know that the hollow ground shape is cut in allowing more tip-ball contact. ENJOY
