Did the Roger Taft case warp a little? I have a wooden one that have had for around 50 or more years and it has warped very slightly and my Crispian Jones has warped a little, but the cues in both of them are ok.

    Roger Taft: http://rhtcustomwood.com/
Can I ask how is the case looking now? How is it to live with? How heavy is it? How chalky is the "fur" liner?
    Can RHTaft do other lining?
Good price though compared to the leather cases we tend to hear about on TSF
I love his curly maple boxes, traditional and classy, but fresh looking. When you imported one, was it well packaged for the benefit of out wonderful RM?

I've got a 1 piece mahogany case that's being sanded and re-hinged etc.

Hoping to buy a 1 piece replacement cue soon, so will probably sell Thistle case

after delivery of 1 piece cue.

I've tried the photobucket thing following the instructions a few times , but to no avail.

Mind you, my other name on the moneysavingexpert website is "technicallychallenged" . LOL

It's looking good still. I can't post more pictures, and have failed miserably down the photobucket route
( although there are quite a few in the links , cheers Dean )

There are a couple of small chips on the edges of the front to top, but overall the exterior is ok.

I keep a small tube of foam ( from a kid's foam dart gun ) inside the case, and the tip goes into it when the cues's going away,
so minimum chalk marks inside, still furry.

Roger lets you choose from say 3 or 4 table cloth colours and a couple of furry ones. Just what he has in stock at the time I guess.

My only problem now is that I've sold my Welsh shark 3/4 cue, so now nothing lives in the case.

If I was thinking ahead, I'd get a more generic design rather than a thistle, to make it appeal to a wider amount of
potential buyers if I was to sell it.

Wow, I thought having looked at his work it would be like £300. If you import anything, the 'gift' declaration is quite nice I hear.

I got a local cabinet maker to make one for me when I first got my custom 62 inch one piece. There was no such thing as extensions or mini butts back then so I designed it slimline with a small compartment for chalk, tip file etc. Case is actually 69 inches long and I still have it but no longer use it since I had my cue 3/4 jointed and now have a tubular case. It was a real pig getting it in and out of cars.
Find a local cabinet maker and ask a price, mine was 40 quid but that was 25 years ago,.............jeez, who knows where the time goes.

Only thing I did wrong was to get a price in dollars. In the 3 months from 1st agreeing price, to payment/delivery,

the pound had sunk against the dollar :-(
Thanks for the PM. If you would be so kind, how much did the case cost? His work looks gorgeous.

Wooden Case, How Much Would It Cost?

Thinking of getting a wooden case for my one piece (so I guess it needs to be 5' long). It needs to hold a mini-butt, push on telescopic extension, a towel, chalk, cue trimmer and shaper, glue and tips (just in case!). For a nice looking wooden case, with maybe some inlays etc, how much would I be looking at parting with, and who is a good maker to go for?
Working...
