Best non-metallic ferrule material

took a few shots with a cue once that had no ferrel and just a tip - actually felt great.

To be fair B you see loads of old cues with just the tip stuck on to the wood and they have lasted. I wonder if they were more billiards cues and playing more stun and screw as you do in snooker would damage them more.

Yep, the end of the wood, would at least fray (which may actually be the point) but I doubt it would take the hammering of modern snooker.
