  • Ball triangles

What are people's thoughts about the current ball triangles that exist? Do you think that they could be improved upon? If so, what do you think they should be?

There was a thread on here just recently, the Racker triangle. A triangle with the benefits of having a pink spot marker and parallel action roller to ease positioning.

Very much like but a lot cheaper than the pro triangles available for Riley and Striking Displays.

Yes I am aware of this one. What if I said that there will be a triangle available that will fit 15 red, 6 red and UK pool. For snooker it allows the pink ball to remain spotted throughout the setup process. For pool it guarantees total ball to ball contact to aid consistent breaking! Also this triangle will fit all ball size variations.

Ball triangles have been made incorrectly for decades. As they are all oversized and don't do the job as they were intended. Which is to close the balls together, providing ball to ball contact. However. If triangles were made to fit the balls, they would not release. Resulting in disturbing them once you tried to remove the triangle. Manufactures realised this, so they admitted defeat. This led them to avoid the issue by producing an oversized triangle.
I have solved this age old problem. Amazingly, during the design process, this also allows the pink ball to remain spotted during setup. There have been a few over engineered triangles in recent years in an attempt to cater for the Pink ball for Snooker. Which were unnecessary too. Most of those adaptations were made from the traditional triangle limitations so therefore they became antiquated.
I have simplified the design. Which in turn as provided more freedom functionally. So to summarize. It caters for 15 red Snooker, 6 red and also UK Pool. Regardless of ball size variations. Enabling ball to ball contact.
I have Produced a Promotional video that will be available soon.

I do have intellectual property. I'm also in talks with a major cue sports manufacturer. So it's a bit early. Needless to say, I am very excited about it. It finally does what they were intended to do.

Iv'e had the pleasure of reading this post and was confused by some of the comments.

Triangles are made bigger to they can be removed from the pack.

Here is a video of the Pro Racker for snooker being used for English Pool. The one in the video is the one the IPA has, the new version 2 (white one) works the same.

                        https://www.facebook.com/theracker/v...94051340944048

As long as the triangle is 60 degrees at the front, you can put any balls in them as long as they are from the same group, so snooker balls only or pool balls only. I use the pro racker designed for snooker for English pool also. The Pro Racker is actually used by the IPA senior referee and is the preferred triangle by most of the referees on the IPA. The IPA is an English pool organisation. This is because the balls are the same diameter to each other (within tolerance) so they create the same triangle shape regardless if its English pool or american pool balls.

I have also designed a "Closed" triangle which the bottom bar is move-able which removed the bottom gap when racking up, then opens up to allow you to remove the triangle without disturbing the pack.

                        https://theracker.co.uk/shop/the-racker-triangles/
                        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdxk-jGEh8k

Regarding snooker, The pink is spotted last as the referee needs to know when to stop moving the pack of reds so uses the pink spot, when the pink is placed on its spot, the gap between the pink and reds should be almost none. 0.1mm-0.5mm.

Depending on the design of the triangle such as the overhead triangles, you are at risk of knocking the pink off its spot if you can't see when to stop the triangle.

I look forward to seeing this new design you mentioned although I just wanted to clarify some of the comments you made to ensure not to confuse people reading the post.

                          no confusion here
why have you not created a Racker for snooker?

                            Hi Dean,

Here is the one you mentioned for snooker.

                            https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/The-Racke...frcectupt=true

The issue with the design was that you cant see the pink spot and it doesn't use rollers.

I am going to be designing a Pro Racker with a movable bottom bar in the future although this would be after people are happy with the version 2 triangle in its current form.

To clarify my point. It fits all makes of balls as a group as you eluded to. So club economy sets to aramith or super crystalate. The same goes for pool ball sets. Any manufacturer brands. Only this one triangle version is universal across each game. Not exclusive to each. I have not yet trialed American pool or Chinese 8 ball though I'm sure this will still apply. I will look at these aspects all the same.
