If you think about the sort of (car) spring you'd need to get the pressure you need, I'm not sure that a spring scale based on that would give the resolution you need to be meaningful (without mechanical amplification, complexity, and cost - and even then I'd be sceptical about accuracy).

I haven't tried them yet, but I'm guessing the grand tips have the sort of firmness that my current tips have after pressing. I shall try them (or the current equivalent at the time) when I run out of what I have. It'll be a few years yet!
